About the Role:

As part of our ongoing expansion, we are excited to introduce a pivotal new role in our team: Materials Analytical Scientist. This position will be instrumental in advancing our R&D efforts by tackling complex challenges and driving innovation.

In this role, you will take ownership of materials characterisation, working both independently and in collaboration with our internal R&D team & external measurement partners. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our state-of-the-art laboratory and external resources are leveraged effectively to support our research initiatives. Your expertise will help translate analytical findings into actionable insights for the R&D team.

Responsibilities:

  • Analytical characterisation of our perovskite materials and precursors which can be used for novel MicroLED technology.
  • Utilise a broad range of analytical techniques (internally or at suppliers site)  including TGA, FTIR, NMR, XPS, XRD, XRF, SEM/TEM, MS, wet chemistry, thermal analysis & microscopy.
  • Develop sample preparation and analytical methods to address complex QC and R&D challenges, and document methods with standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of analytical techniques and equipment.
  • Utilise statistical methods both in assessing the analytical methods accuracy and precision, and to extract valuable insights from datasets.
  • Record all analyses accurately and keep meticulous records of laboratory work.
  • Collaborate with external partners to ensure accurate and relevant testing for research purposes.
  • Support implementation of the quality management system.
  • Regularly present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience & Attributes:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field with industry experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as TGA, FTIR, NMR, MS and wet chemistry, typically gained through research.
  • Previous  industry experience, where you have played a key role in the company's materials or chemical characterisation.
  • Proven experience in developing and validating analytical test methods.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • At ease with data analysis using suitable tools.

  • Experience implementing quality management processes and procedures.
  • Data analysis skills for large-scale scientific data sets and/or experience with database systems.
