About the Role:
As part of our ongoing expansion, we are excited to introduce a pivotal new role in our team: Materials Analytical Scientist. This position will be instrumental in advancing our R&D efforts by tackling complex challenges and driving innovation.
In this role, you will take ownership of materials characterisation, working both independently and in collaboration with our internal R&D team & external measurement partners. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our state-of-the-art laboratory and external resources are leveraged effectively to support our research initiatives. Your expertise will help translate analytical findings into actionable insights for the R&D team.

Location:
Based in our custom built lab and office, 10 minutes from central Oxford.
Responsibilities:
- Analytical characterisation of our perovskite materials which can be used for novel MicroLED technology.
- Develop sample preparation and analytical methods to address complex R&D challenges.
- Utilise a broad range of analytical techniques (internally or at suppliers site) including TGA, NMR, XPS, XRD, XRF, SEM/TEM, MS, wet chemistry, thermal analysis & microscopy.
- Support the validation and optimisation of analytical methods.
- Using statistical methods and techniques to extract valuable insights in order to analyse and interpret data.
- Support implementation of the quality management system.
- Contribute to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of analytical techniques and equipment.
- Collaborate with external partners to ensure accurate and relevant testing for research purposes.
- Develop metrics and methods including development of standard operating procedures documentation in order to support quality control.
- Regularly present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience & Attributes:
- Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field with industry experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as TGA, NMR, XPS, XRD, XRF, SEM/TEM, MS, wet chemistry, thermal analysis & microscopy, typically gained through research.
- Previous industry experience, where you have managed external and internal suppliers and played a key role in the companies materials or chemical characterisation.
- Proven experience in developing and validating analytical test methods.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to influence and manage external partners.
- At ease with data analysis using suitable tools (Python, etc.)
